SHIELD AROUND THE K: THE STORY OF K RECORDS
"The Shield Around the K tells the story of the birth and growth of the independent record label K Records: the punk rock DIY label from Washington.
The film played to a sold out audience at the 2000 New York Underground Film Festival and went on to receive invitational screenings at over 20 film festivals in Canada, England, Germany, Sweden and the United States.
Included are Super 8 music videos of Beat Happening, The Halo Benders, Lois, Mecca Normal and Tiger Trap directed by Patrick Maley and Lois Maffeo. The film also contains rare footage from the International Pop Underground Convention, a six-day festival held at the Capital Theater in Olympia, Washington in August, 1991."
plus live musical performances from
Members of ULTIMATE THRUSH, THOTH, SKELETON FAMILY, & OTHERS bring some screaming and some troublemaking and play super loud and super fast just for you.!!
GUMMY STUMPS, Glasgow
Sound a bit like The Fall & a bit like a band called Joeyfat if they came from Glasgow. One of their Myspace pictures shows them climbing a mountain with the guy out of Golden Grrrls.
They played at Yes Way and hung out on the grass with us for a while, they could maybe be a 90s metal band but grew up on pop music and daytime TV.
NO WOMB, Manchester
No Womb are close to home and not far out of the womb, Upset the Rhythm said "Uninhibited free vocal whirlwind vs. detuned punk"
FATHER MURPHY, Italy
Recently been on tour with Deerhoof & Xiu Xiu, sure to be a treat!
Followed by REGULAR EXERCISE DJs
DOORS OPEN AT 7PM
FILM STARTS AT 7.30PM

the back cover & spraypainted glory of our CD, if you want to imagine the front, the paper is the same colour, and the image is right down there. we think the BRIGHT ORANGE paper perfectly compliments the subject of baked beans. ALSO in the package are some mystery extras, mostly a 12 page booklet of the photographs that Katy took of us frolicking in beans, and photocopied prints of drawings by Miriam and Jess. it's pretty gnarly! You can pick up copies for just £5 from our shows, or from COMFORTABLE ON A TIGHTROPE or from GOOD GRIEF! pretty soon... we've only made 10 copies so far but there'll be THIRTY in total. YEAH!
Thank you Perry! Thank you Laetitia!
Also, we are PSYCHED to be playing at YES WAY FEST in London next month along with various other incredible bands like... Klaus Kinski, Former Bullies, Waiters, Ultimate Thrush, Golden Grrrls and Way Through. It's gonna be vvveeeryyy cool!
We just got back from our very first out of town show in Glasgow with SILK FLOWERS and would just like to say thank you to the sound guy at 13th Note for being the NICEST AND BEST PERSON IN THE ENTIRE WORLD, as well as thank you to Julia for having us stay, Cry Parrot for putting it on, (and C.O.A.T for putting on the night before at the Deaf Institute!) and WAITERS and SILK FLOWERS for being excellent not-really-a-tour-but-it-felt-a-bit-like-one buddies. xxx

Lucy Jones made this most beautiful poster in the world for maybe the best gig in the world. We are so excited that SILK FLOWERS are coming back to town and TENFOLD honoured, thrilled and s-t-o-k-e-d to be playing with them and WAITERS (one of our other favourite bands) in Manchester on the 21st July thanks to COMFORTABLE ON A TIGHTROPE , AND both of them again in Glasgow the next night, thanks to CRY PARROT. YES SIR.! It's gonna be sweet! Miriam got some class act zoom... wah... blah... grrrr... pedals off her sister so don't think "oh dear, not no womb again", think "MAMA'S got a brand new bag, and i MUST see it! it's handmade from the finest leather! someone told me it was a Mulberry one off, that's gotta be worth something!"
Also, we'll have our very first release... NO WOMB LIVE AT THE KLONDYKE KLUB (use of "K" tbc.) in glorified CD-R form ready & waiting for your petty cash, there's only gonna be 30 made so be ready! We might even have t-shirts... actual t-shirts that fit people of all shapes and sizes, not just children & child like adults. I wouldn't count on it though.
